JEDDAH: Police are investigating two cases where a Jeddah businessman and a group of Egyptian workers were swindled.
In the first incident, a Saudi businessman in Al-Hamra district complained to police that an Egyptian expatriate cheated him out of SR600,000. After preliminary interrogations, Al-Hamra police handed the case to the Prosecution and Investigations Commission.
In the second incident, police arrested an Egyptian driver who opened a fake agency to offer Haj services to his compatriots. He did not obtain a license to operate nor was he an agent of any licensed company.
However, he promised many Egyptians that he would obtain Haj permits for them. After collecting a large sum of money for permits and Haj services from prospective pilgrims, he disappeared. However, police tracked him down and are questioning him.
